However, apps that will not open cause problems and decrease productivity. Problems with apps are often caused by outdated firmware, incompatibility or damage to the apps themselves. With a few troubleshooting guidelines, you can fix apps that will not open quickly and safely.

Tap the 'App Store' icon from your iPhone's home screen, and then locate the app that will not open. Check the app's system requirements in the 'Requirements' section to verify it is compatible with your iOS version.

Tap 'Settings,' then 'General' and then tap 'About' to check your iOS version. If you're using a version that is not compatible with the app, tap 'Software Update' and install the latest version.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until the Apple logo appears on the screen, then launch the apps.

Touch and hold the app that will not open until it starts to wiggle, and then tap the X icon in the corner if you're still experiencing difficulty. Tap 'Delete' to remove the app completely and all its data from your IPhone.

Tap the 'App Store' from the home screen and locate the app to reinstall. Tap 'Purchased' to locate the app quickly if you were using a paid version. When prompted, enter your Apple ID password to reinstall the app. Relaunch the app.

Tips

  • Some apps require a Wi-Fi connection to download and reinstall.
  • Open the App Store and locate the app if you're still unable to open it. Scroll down and tap the 'Report a Problem' link. Select the issue you're experiencing, enter additional comments and then tap 'Report' to submit the issue to the developers.
